Marmari Paradise Hotel, a real "paradise" in the Laconian Mani
Marmari Paradise Hotel is the ideal choice for those who want to discover the area of Mesa Mani, the southernmost point of continental Europe. The hotel's 60 rooms in total are inspired by tradition, made of Manian stone, carved into the rock, with a balcony overlooking the sea and thoughtful amenities for guests.
The owners of Marmari Paradise, wanting to upgrade the old and technologically outdated system of producing Hot Water for use with the use of LPG, turned to ANDRIANOS. As the increase in energy costs is now a daily fact, the upgrade of the most energy-intensive systems, such as those of heating and cooling of the premises, as well as the production of Hot Water for Use, is an imperative need, especially for the hotel business. Upgrading the higher systems maximizes energy savings and ensures that the needs of the occupants for thermal comfort are fully met.
ANDRIANOS engineers studied the existing situation and proposed modern and at the same time specialized (for the specific hotel) solutions to fully meet the hot water needs, as well as to ensure the reliable and economical operation of the system, as desired by the owners of Marmari Paradise.
Hotel Benefits from the Installation of the Hybrid System Combining Solar Thermal Energy and a Heat Pump for Hot Water Production
Before we present the interventions proposed and implemented by ANDRIANOS, it is worth highlighting the significant financial benefits now enjoyed by the owners of Marmari Paradise, which include:
- 95% cost savings on hot water production
- Rapid return on investment in just 5 years

Detailed Overview: The New A+++ Hybrid System for Hot Water Production Using 100% Renewable Energy
The new hybrid system at Marmari Paradise combines two highly efficient technologies: Solar Thermal Systems and Heat Pumps. This setup harnesses the free energy provided by solar radiation, while high-efficiency Heat Pumps take over when solar energy is insufficient, ensuring uninterrupted hot water supply. Key Components of the Hybrid System:
AND-SOLAR PREMIUM Solar Collectors – Among the Top 5 Most Efficient Worldwide
As part of the hybrid system, the solar thermal solution meets the hot water needs of the hotel’s 60 beds. It includes 12 AND-SOLAR PREMIUM collectors, each with a 2.72 m² surface area, forming a solar field of 32.64 m² installed on the hotel rooftop.
The ANDRIANOS solar collectors stand out for their exceptionally high efficiency (ηcol = 67%), as tested under EN 12975 standards. They have successfully passed performance and reliability tests according to EN ISO 9806:2013 and are certified with the SOLAR KEYMARK quality label.

AND-SOLAR FS1 Solar Storage Tanks – German Engineering Quality
The system includes a series of two AND-SOLAR FS1 flow-through storage tanks, each with a 1,000-liter capacity, providing a total water volume of 2,000 liters.
These German-made tanks are classified as Energy Class C and feature a special stainless steel coil to prevent limescale buildup, ensuring long-term efficiency and durability.

Solar Thermal System Piping Network from NMC Germany
The solar collectors are connected to each other with a stainless steel spiral pipe DN25 with 13mm thick insulation, suitably certified for closed circuit solar thermal systems.
TACONOVA Solar Station from Switzerland for Proper Operation and Synchronization of the Solar Thermal System Components
The circulation of the solar fluid between the solar collectors and the hot water storage tanks is managed by the TACONOVA Solar Station from Switzerland. This station is specially designed for solar circuits and is perfectly sized to meet the needs of the Marmari Paradise system, ensuring optimal operation and synchronization of all system components.

Additionally, the Deltasol SLT Solar Controller and the DL2 Module from RESOL Germany were installed. These components provide remote monitoring and configuration capabilities via the internet, ensuring optimal technical support. They also allow for the recording of energy data and performance metrics of the solar thermal system.

Heat pumps ARISTON NIMBUS POCKET
The second part of the hybrid system, includes the Ariston Nimbus Pocket 110MNET Heat Pump with hydraulic module, which automatically heats the water in the hot water tanks when the energy produced by the solar panels is not sufficient. The Ariston Nimbus Pocket heat pumps are Energy Class A+++, 15KW heat pumps that also have a Quiet Mode to minimise noise during operation. With the installation of the Heat Pump, a small amount of electricity is consumed and multiple thermal energy is produced for the heating of hot water, while the use of the LPG boiler, which was previously used by the hotel, has been completely eliminated.
FERNOX Magnetic Filter with Corrosion Inhibitor for Ultimate Network Protection
To ensure proper operation and protection of the hydraulic network, the FERNOX TF1 magnetic filter was installed on the Heat Pump. This filter collects all iron oxides, preventing the formation of new magnetite sludge deposits in the system, thus keeping the network water clean
Smart WILO Circulator and Siemens 3-Way Mixing Valve for DHW Recirculation Circuit Control
To ensure smooth system operation, it is essential to optimally regulate the circuit to automatically maintain a stable temperature in the recirculation water. For this purpose, the smart Wilo Yonos Maxo circulator was installed, effectively reducing the consumption of both electrical and thermal energy in the recirculation process.
To stabilize the domestic hot water exiting the storage tanks and ensure it is distributed to the rooms at the ideal temperatures for maximum customer satisfaction with minimal energy cost, the SIEMENS MXG461B DN15 valve was installed. This valve provides precise temperature control of the DHW with rapid response time.
Benefits of the Hybrid Solar Thermal and Heat Pump System Installation for the Hotel
Significant Energy Savings
The energy consumption for DHW production has been almost entirely reduced.
The Solar Thermal system will achieve at least 80% energy savings, and the Heat Pumps will provide an additional 70% savings compared to the old collectors and LPG boiler.
In absolute terms, the annual consumption for DHW production, previously around €5,484/year (3,878L of LPG), will be reduced to only €400/year.
Quick Return on Investment (ROI) = 5 years
The new Hybrid System cost approximately €25,000, with an annual savings of around €5,000. As a result, the investment will pay off in just 5 years.
Remote Monitoring of System Performance
The engineers from ANDRIANOS and the technicians from EOΤ-EXE, who are responsible for the proper functioning of the hybrid system, have the ability to monitor its parameters and performance online. They can also remotely adjust settings and make additional configurations without needing to visit the hotel.
Environmental Protection
A significant contribution to environmental protection is achieved, as it is estimated that with the new hybrid system based on Renewable Energy Sources (RES), CO2 emissions will be reduced by 5,692kg annually compared to the emissions produced by the old LPG boiler system.
Aesthetic Improvement of the Installation
The old, rusted collectors on the hotel’s roof detracted from the hotel’s appearance. With the new collectors, a clear aesthetic renewal is evident.
Quality Installation by EOT - EXE
The Special Energy Efficiency Technicians Team (EOT - EXE) of ANDRIANOS handled the installation and parameterization of the demanding hybrid system at the MARMARI PARADISE hotel. The team of specialized licensed technicians and engineers, with their comprehensive expertise and extensive experience, ensures the long lifespan and smooth, cost-effective operation of the system.
Additionally, they are responsible for the annual maintenance of the system, in accordance with the manufacturers' specifications, as well as addressing any potential emergency breakdowns that may occur in the future.
