Solar Collectors

The key role in the process of solar energy acquisition belongs to the solar collectors. They bind solar radiation (solar energy) and convert it into valuable heat (thermal energy). In place of the hose, the collector has an aluminum absorbent material. This binds the solar energy, heats and transfers the heat to the water passing through copper pipes, which rest on the absorbing. The special coating and the very efficient insulation ensure that as little solar heat as possible is lost. So simple and so effective!

1. High quality materials

High quality of raw materials used, guarantee long life service and high efficiency.

2. Absorbing surface

The absorbing surface is made of Aluminium in 0.5mm thickness coated with high selective blue titanium treatment (α=95%, ε=5%). Selective treatment for the absorbers can be high selective Tinox Energy or Mirotherm Alanod.

3. Copper tubes

Water frame consisting of copper riser tubes Ø8x0,40mm and heaters-manifolds copper tubes dimension Ø22x0,7mm.

4. Laser welding

Laser welding guarantees perfect heat transfer from the absorbing surface to the water frame.

5. Pressure tests

All absorbers are tested at 15 bars and at 7 bars (2 consecutive pressure tests).

6. Glass cover of collector

The glass cover of the collector is prismatic tempered - security, low safety iron and thickness 3.2 mm.

7. Frame of collector

The frame of the collector is aluminum powder coated with special treatment for maximum resistance in coastal areas.

8. Back plate with high durability

The back plate is made of Aluzinc 0.4 mm thickness with high durability (7 times more resistant to corrosion than galvanized steel).

9. Sealing materials

Sealing materials used are silicon and polyurethane sealant for high resistance to extreme temperatures and for guaranteed water proofing.

10. Ventilation of collector

Properly placed 2 points ventilation of the collector.

11. Installation flexibility

The collector can be installed on a flat roof, tiled roof and in-roof.

The largest public solar thermal project in Greece completed with great success. The project was undertaken by "ANDRIANOS" company, after participating in an open international competition. The project was funded by the program EPPERAA (Operational Programme for Environment and Sustainable Development), and specifically from the Priority Axis 1 for the Protection of Atmospheric Environment - Tackling Climate Change - Renewable Energy. The energy inspection of the project was done by Dr . Engineer M.I.T. Mr. Efthimiadis Apostolos in cooperation with the technical department of the Hospital. The final study was conducted by the scientific team of "ANDRIANOS ", headed by the Electrical Engineer, Mr. George Andrianos and the significant contribution of Mechanical Engineer , Mr Othonas Siagkas, on specific issues .
