The ANDRIANOS undertook, after participating to an open international tender, and successfully completed the replacement of the old chimneys with new modern ones, as well as the modernization of the boiler room and the cooling plant by changing the old pumps with new modern high energy efficiency ones and all other components, and finally the maintenance of the collectors and the pipes.
This project included two subprojects: The first one of these concerned the upgrade of manifolds by replacing pumps, valves, check valves and the rest of control instruments, plus the insulation at main manifolds for heating, cooling, stream, circutalion of hot water for use. There were selected new, modern materials and accessories by the brands IVR, GEMAK and EBRO, certified according to European standards and the new circulators are by the leading brands WILO and GRUNDFOS with high energy efficiency, in line with the new European directive ERP 2013.
The second sub-project was about dismantling the old chimneys and installing new modern ones. The five new chimneys that were installed on the two steam generators and on the three hot water boilers in the boiler room of the General Hospital of Messinia, are ΙΝΟΧ 316L model, HI LINE GAS CE. The new chimneys have 450mm diameter and are made by stainless steel, with double insulation, 316 on the internal side nai 304 on the outer. Their insulation is for rock wood 128kg/m3 and 2.5 cm thickness, with out thermal brigdes. They could be used for oil or gas boilers and are cerftified with CE.
This project is expected to increase the efficiency of the hospital’s boilers as a result of better extraction fume, while the new route outside of the building, will significantly decreased the risk of CO leaks, which will raise the level of security for staff and visitors of the hospital. Also the possibility for damage and energy loss in the overall functioning of the E / M equipment, was significantly decreased after the new equipment installments, especially with the new circulators that will contribute significantly to the energy and resources saving of the hospital.
